So you decided to leave the underdark... Before you set out you may wish to listen to an exiled Drow princess before you go...
We Drow are well hated by a lot of people I’m not saying its not deserved what I am saying is its dangerous out there and you better know yourself and what we are good at!

Here young Drow I’ll show you the way

When I talk about your options for how you wish to adventure, I shall associate them with a color, similar to the style first used by Dictum_Mortuum:
Sky Blue choices are best suited for us Drow.
Blue choices, while not as strong, are fine choices as well, and you'll do well in that profession.
Black choices are not the best, but they're workable nonetheless.
Purple choices can work, but they're much less suited to your abilities.
Red choices are those that are least workable for the Drow. You can try it if u must (I wouldn’t but if it’s your hearts desire who am I to stop you), but it will take a lot of hard work.

Table of Contents
01.) Introduction
02.) Drow Traits
03.) Martial Drow
04.) Arcane Drow
05.) Divine Drow
06.) Primal Drow
07.) Ki Drow
08.) Shadow Drow
09.) Psionic Drow
10.) Elemental Drow
11.) Drow Feats and Paragon Paths
12.) Sample Drow Builds

When talking about options you have, I will be referring to several sources, which shall be abbreviated as so:
Player's Handbook = PHB
Player's Handbook II = PHBII
Forgotten Realms Player's Guide =FRPG
Martial Power = MP
Arcane Power = AP

Thanks to Lordduskblade and anomalousman for all the great ideas I get from reading there stuff
And thanks to lord_ventor for the inspireing me with his dragonborn guide (which I am from borrowing shamelessly) (Hope you don’t mind after all imitation is the sincerest form a flattery)

Knowing yourself:
Drow Traits

Ability Scores: we tend to be more Agile and more charismatic than other races. These traits lend us to excelling at a whole range of classes (Especially the sneaky ones)

Skill Bonuses: Our skill with sneaking and being intimidating is well known and both feed of our natural talents

Fey Origin: we came from the feywild so we count as fey

Trance: sleep? No I’ll just meditate during camp set up and help keep watch all night as a bonus I can't be stabbed in my sleep with out noticing them sneaking up on me

Lolthtouched: We got some tricks that really can be an ace in the hole

Cloud of darkness: we can make magical darkness that blinds targets in it and all non Drow cant see into it which can be good or bad

Darkfire: woot the target can't get concealment or invisibility and they give combat advantage(Rogues love it! I should know I am one!)

Darkvision: light I need no light!

war of the underdark:
Martial drow

Fighters (PHB) Dexterity helps with weapons but being pretty won’t help you be a fighter and being a fighter won’t help you be pretty! By the way you shure you wouldn't rather to be a paladin?

Weapon Talent (PHB): The most basic of fighter techniques, although sometimes simple is the best way to go. You should generally go with a more Dexterity oriented weapon such as a spear or a sword.

Battlerager Vigor (MP): truthfuly not for you.

Tempest Technique (MP): A Dexterity focused path, Drow make ok Tempest Fighters. Actually It’s the best fighter path for us especially if you multi class into ranger to get bigger off hands and blade dancer you should take Scimitars as your weapon of choice. Your no Stormwarden but your close

Rangers (PHB)
The skirmisher role is as natural to us as seeing in the dark

Two-Blade Style (PHB): One of the stronger options for a Drow ranger. You might want to try raising Dexterity as opposed to Constitution or Wisdom and take stormwarden

Archery Style: our natural Dexterity helps the lack of wisdom hurts us but not too much over all a good path for us

Beast Mastery: Dexterity can help with full blades but other than that we lack the wisdom and strength it takes to make a good beast master

Rogues (PHB)
we are natural sneaks, assassins, daggermasters and, fencers

Brutal Scoundrel (PHB):your lack of a strength isnt helpfull, your Charisma will only help you boost your Will defense. But your dexterity helps you hit.You could do worse.

Artful Dodger (PHB): Here, your Charisma is aiding your powers And our Dexterity helps us hit. For us Pure win!

Ruthless Ruffian (MP): Generally the poor choice for a drow Rogue to go, as it requires both Strength and Charisma to be effective.

Warlord
Should you choose to be a warlord our charisma will help you inspire your allies and your Dexterity can help you master some weapons

Inspiring Presence (PHB): This IS the best warlord path for us Drow Charisma drives this paths bonuses and Dexterity help get some cool weapons

Tactical Presence (PHB): we not smart nor strong we not well served here

Bravura Presence (MP): Charisma helps but you not your not strong or though enough to make it work

Resourceful Presence (MP): Your charisma helps and but its is a stretch with the need for intelligence and strength

mages of underdark
Arcane drow

(quoted from the dragonborn HB)( I couldnt find any better to way to put it)
There are generally two kinds of ways to access the Arcane power that permeates our world: through dedicated study, or through intuition. As a whole, we Drow tend to gravitate towards the latter, our forceful Charisma allowing us to access powers that we normally could not use.

Warlock (PHB)
It is not enough to sell one's Soul to gain power: one must also have the proper mind and body prepared to wield the granted power. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on your outlook), we Drow can use the power granted to us by most extraplanar entities well.

Infernal Pact (PHB): Selling one's soul to the Devil is rather cliche, and you don't exactly have the best abilities to do so dont.

Fey Pact (PHB): Your natural Charisma means making deals with Fey entities(hell you are fey!) for power is a good way to gain power.

Star Pact (PHB): No one truly knows what lies beyond the stars. If you try to learn, however, you could get power from that. Your Charisma boost will help in that regard and Dexterity get into scale prof helps should you go for Constitution over intelligence

Dark Pact (FRPG): We are the arch-types of the dark pact Cruel with lots of charisma and sneaky to boot

Wizard (PHB)
We drow make poor book learners so being a wizard is usually not the best way for us to go about getting magical power.

Orb of Imposition (PHB): no intelligence boost or wisdom boost makes us poor orb wizards

Staff of Defense (PHB): Um not for us no Constitution, no intelligence, no point

Wand of Accuracy (PHB): here is where we get some wizard love

Swordmage (FRPG)
Like the Wizard, the Swordmage is as much book learning as it is fighting, and such isn't the best fit foe us then again most defender classes are not a good fit for Drows

Aegis of Assault (FRPG): Dexterity help with swords other than that you got nothing

Aegis of Shielding (FRPG): This Aegis is in the same boat as the other one

Bard (PHBII)
When one thinks "Bard," we Drow don't spring to mind. (mostly becase we are seen as cruel Evil SOBs.)
But despite this we do make good bards

Virtue of Valor (PHBII): our charisma makes us good and our Dexterity makes us better at many weapons

Virtue of Cunning (PHBII) While Our Charisma makes this path a viable choice too

Sorcerer (PHBII)
Of all the paths there are to Arcane power, harnessing our the fey magic in our blood is often the best way to go. No convoluted deals, no hours upon hours of study; just raw untamed magic.

Dragon Magic (PHBII): Our charisma helps but we lack strength over all a solid path

Wild Magic (PHBII): Utilizing the power of the Elemental Chaos is a natural fit . In this case, Dexterity fills in all the roles that Strength does above. We hav both Dexterity and Charisma in spades.

Artificer (Dragon 364)
coming soon

Battlesmith (Dragon 364):

faith of the underdark
Divine Drow

For us Drow faith can be any thing from fanatical fear driven Devotion to loth, to Heroic defiance in her face by serving another god or goddess: like in my case Sune and Bahamut. We Drow can make good Foci for divine Power.
Though I must admit some paths are better for us than others. If it is faith that calls you then remember faith and prayer have power and should be used with forethought. From defending others to field control you will be the light in the dark for those who journey with you, Remeber your duty to them!

Cleric (PHB)
We drow make ok clerics mostly becase of you +2 to Charisma that alows us to have better riders on our powers

Battle Cleric (PHB):As battle clerics we do alright our natrual Dexterity helps with armor/weapon/shield feats and our Charisma helps our riders. NOt bad but not good ether(mostly because of the MADness- the need for at lest a str of 16 and denx con and cha-cha should be at lest a 14).

Devoted Cleric (PHB): As laser clerics our Charisma helps our powers riders and Dexterity can still help with feats but if you getting hit as offen as a battle cleric you wont last as long

Paladin (PHB)
We Drow make FANTASTIC Paladins Dexterity helps with feats and some weapons and Charisma helps our marks hurt even more!

Avenging Paladin (PHB): We Drow make respectable Stradin our Dexterity healps with weapon/sheild feats and our charisma makes our makes above average as stradins go

Protecting Paladin (PHB): Charismatic opportunist build fits like a glove Dexterity for feats & Charisma is our main attack stat as a chadin! This is our defender class of choice as things stand now!

Balanced Paladin (PHB): Ah! The balanced Paladin the provence of dragonborn everywhere! As for us Drow your welcome to try but, you will be lackluster compaired to the dragonborn mostly because they have more stat points to spare.

Avenger (PHBII) Ah the avenger the holy assassin. I know what your thinking killing stuff and sneaking are what we do best, while that is true we make better rogues than avengers!

Censure of Pursuit (PHBII): Of the two Censures we Drow make use of this one best via our Dexterity. Admittedly even then we still are poor at it. As for your looks forget about it won’t help you here.

Censure of Retribution (PHBII): No stat synergy, no real point in a Drw taking this oath. This path really isn't for you EVER!

Invoker (PHBII)Coming soon

Is this a setting neutral handbook for drow? Or is it from the Underdark (FR/Greyhawk) perspective only? I ask because not all drow in D&D live underground and worship spiders. I currently play a drow swordmage form Eberron in my game, and am looking forward to upcoming stuff here. :D

I'm gonna take a *wild* guess here and assume that the Primal drow will most likely fit in with the Eberron/Xen'drik drow.
Is a basic all realm Drow handbook
as for primal drow ill be using the PH2 and primal power books
Most of the divine chapter is done Ill finish the Invoker as soon as Im done reading it and completerly understand it please be patient

thanks in advance Minakio
Not bad so far.

I'd take Dragon Magic down to blue, though.
perhaps your right thanks Lord_Ventnor.

status:on further thought ill drop dragon magic droped to blue
This is awesome, thank you for this one, along with the handbooks for racial feats I'm covered. My first jump into 4e will be a Drow Avenger, I know not the most optimized, but the storyline for him is awesome. I wanted a Drizz't clone, minus all the whiney *****ing and self-lothing that he does. So my concept was a middle male child of a middle house, nothing special, destined to become a sacrifice or fodder in the house militia, so he rebeled and escaped to the surface, where he came to find a home in the teachings of Corellan(HAHA!) His belief is all drow who do not stop serving Lloth are to die. His house sent members to kill him and he sent their heads back to them with a warning continue to hunt me and I will bring the fight to your doorstep and slaughter you all. He also wants to fight using the traditional drow weapons(hand crossbow, light blades, etc..), though I was thinking maybe a light pick would be bad-ass. Well let me know what you think & I will keep you updated on his fervent quest to destroy the following of Lloth.
