"This is an earthly beast I speak of, not the creature of spirit which plagues the Justiciars."
Its' will is ponderous rather than mighty ... Its' mind a haze of primitive urges, clearer than an instinct not quite a thought, this is a beast yet more and when paired with a Nemahgant much more... Sensitivity to the blood bond they call it but that isn't right. The blood bond was a different construct altogether. The pair bonding of resonating souls betwixt man and beast is casually mentioned in certain chronicles concerning the God Wizard Wars.
My conjecture is that the Dragons are/were designed as beasts of war, whose masters have long since died. Once wielded by minds powerful yet tormented like our Dragon men (our Children of the bond).
I told this theory to White-Eyes, he smiled at me and I suddenly remembered how old he is, he was there when they tamed the Dragon. I felt like a child.
'That is what many thought, but people forget so easily it's like they've been here forever". He doesn't really tell me much. Encourage me yes! Make sure I get food yes! And make sure people know about and read my works yes! His influence is powerful I'm really surprised when I see how many lovely gifts I receive. It is his doing I know. I'm far too young for this, much notoriety and prestige.
Who would fashion such a beast of war, so beautiful. I cannot help but think
with a shudder he or she would have been an Aurelian... wrapping all things
in art and beauty as we do. Do we have a dark past, a secret that explains why
we accepted the Burden of the Bond? To atone for a crime an evil we had done?
Could the dragons be that crime? By harnessing them again have we repeated past
evil? The idea terrifies me. I don't want to, but I must explore it further
were we truly neutral bystanders in those dimly recalled wars of ages past?
Or was our neutrality a mask.
The Nemahg has many forms they call it the Dragon but is this true or just an
image of our guilt? Demon is even more valid in some sense but this is not how
it is seen.
